Comprehensive Railway Safety Information Management System consists of the following 3 sub-systems

Railway Safety Application System to support efficient implementation of railway safety policies

Railway accident report and statistics management
  • Collect and manage railway accident (trouble) data available from railway operators and facility managers in Korea and elsewhere.
  • Manage statistics by operator, accident cause, railway type and damage category
  • Analyze railway accidents in terms of cause, risk source, frequency and probability
Railway crew credential management
  • Administer R/S driver license examination and issue licenses
  • Manage credential requirement information relating to medical checkup, aptitude test, education/training, OJT, etc., for critical safety stakeholders such as R/S driver, controller, signaling system operator, etc.
Comprehensive safety inspection management
  • Inspect/assess safety management status in railway operators and facility managers comprehensively and computerize comprehensive safety inspection processes to identify and improve shortfalls in safety management by organization and area
  • Computerize end-to-end inspection process from preliminary inspection which is a precursor to full inspection to inspection planning, inspection and follow-up
Comprehensive railway safety planning and performance management
  • Manage national and railway operator's comprehensive railway safety plan and implementation
  • Manage railway safety targets (metrics) and track as-is performance

Implementation of Interface with Railway Stakeholder Organizations and Analytics Systems

Implement interface to facilitate collection of railway safety information from 3rd parties
  • Establish interface with railway operators, facilities operators and R&D institutes at home and abroad
  • Collect railway accident information, industry stakeholder profile, rolling stock information, facility information, etc.
Develop data warehouse
  • Develop high-volume statistics/analytics database to support railway accident cause analysis and policy development
Support railway safety policy decision-making process
  • Support safety policy development by analyzing railway risks and investment priorities
  • Develop and provide safety metrics

Implementation of Knowledge Dissemination System to Improve and Promote Safety Awareness

Railway safety information portal
  • Collect/process/analyse railway safety data and information from a variety of organizations and publish them to relevant users and include statistics, announcements, railway safety reports and promotional releases
  • Post event schedules, latests and safety tips of railway industry organizations
Railway safety e-Learning
  • Provide safety and specialty training information to railway crews including engine drivers, controllers, signaling system operators, etc.
  • Provide railway safety tips and emergency guidelines for citizens
Cyber immersion hall
  • Simulate emergency response tips in railway․subway fire ․ derailment ․collision, etc.
  • Reproduce historical railway accident to provide accident immersion experiences
  • Provide railway safety video clips
